Can I apply for the Working Holiday Visa 462?

It is important that you have a passport from:

    • Argentina (limited number)
    • Bangladesh (limited number)
    • Chile (limited number)
    • Indonesia (limited number)
    • Israel (limited number) NEW
    • Malaysia (limited number)

     

    • Poland (limited number)
    • Portugal
    • Spain
    • Thailand (limited number)
    • Turkey (limited number)
    • USA
    • Uruguay (limited number)

You might be able to get this visa if you:

  • have appropriate English skills
  • do not have a dependent child accompanying you at any time during your stay in Australia
  • are at least 18 but not yet 31 years of age
  • never applied for a Working Holiday visa (subclass 462) or Working Holiday (subclass 417) before
  • have no outstanding debts to the Australian Government
  • have enough money to cover your stay (around AUD 5000)
  • have money for a return ticket
  • have a health insurance
  • meet Australia’s health requirements (http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/health-requirements/)
  • meet Australia’s character requirements (http://www.immi.gov.au/Help/Pages/character-police/requirements.aspx)

You have to fulfill education requirements:

  • USA – at least High School Degree
  • Bangladesh, Indonesia, Turkey, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay – tertiary qualification or at least two years of undergraduate university
  • Chile – tertiary qualification or have satisfactorily completed or have been approved to do a third year of undergraduate university
  • Thailand – diploma or degree

Can I apply online?

Only USA passport holders can apply online (https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login).
If you cannot apply online, you can lodge a paper application form (http://www.immi.gov.au/forms/Documents/1208.pdf)
If this is your first Working Holiday Visa, you have to be outside Australia when you apply for it.

What you can do with this visa?

This visa allows you to:

  • stay in Australia for up to 12 months
  • work in Australia for up to six months with each employer
  • study for up to four months
  • leave and re-enter Australia any number of times while the visa is valid

 

 

Visa costs

The Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417 and subclass 462) costs about 420 AUD but you need to check on a regular basis if this is still the correct price. You also may have to pay for other expenses such as the costs for health assessments, police certificates or any other certificate or test.
